Ukraine’s troops showed off Russian Tor and Strela-10 air defense systems after retaking territory in Kherson province.
Videos circulating on social media on Sunday shows Ukraine’s armored vehicle being used to tow a Russian Tor-M2 9A331M surface-to-air missile system. Russia has so far lost around 20 Tor systems, as per reports.
The Strela system was captured in the Dudchany village, located on the shore of the Kahovsky Reservoir.
Natalia Humeniuk, Spokesperson for Operational Command "South" confirmed to the press that the Ukrainian side managed to retake more than 1,170 sqkm in Kherson, which is one of the four regions Russia annexed last week.
The Russian military on Monday acknowledged that Kyiv’s forces had broken through in Kherson. It said the Ukrainian army and its “superior tank units” had managed to “penetrate the depths of our defense” around the villages of Zoltaya Balka and Alexsandrovka.
Dudchany, where the Russian Strela was captured by Ukraine, is about 30km south of where the front stood before the breakthrough, indicating one of the fastest advances of the war.
