France’s Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) carried out two test launches of GBU-12 laser-guided bombs from U.S.-produced Reaper drone.
This test was conducted at Cazaux site by the DGA in cooperation with the French Air and Space Force. A rehearsal flight was conducted on September 30, followed by a ballistic firing flight on October 5 and a laser-guided firing on October 7, French defense ministry said in a release.
The Reaper drone carrying the bomb for the two flights was implemented by the 33rd surveillance, reconnaissance and attack wing of the Cognac-Châteaubernard air base 709, under the supervision of DGA Flight Tests (Cazaux site ), with the support of the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) brand team of the French Air and Space Force's Military Air Expertise Center (CEAM).
