German Patriot missile launchers will protect Polish skies from accidental missile strikes such as the one that left two people dead in Przewodow village bordering Ukraine.
German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht and her Polish counterpart Mariusz Blashak have agreed on the transfer of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) from Germany to Poland.
“I will propose to deploy this system close to the border with Ukraine,” Błaszczak said in a Nov. 21 tweet ahead of his scheduled phone talk with Lambrecht.
Following the phone call, he tweeted that Lambrecht “has confirmed her willingness to place Patriot launchers near the border with Ukraine. He added that the number of launchers, their variant, and time of delivery, among others, were to be further discussed by both allies.
The German defense minister has also offered to send Eurofighter Typhoon jets to help secure the Polish airspace.
