Turkey-made Anka combat drones have been ordered by Kyrgyzstan, the country’s Presidential Press Service head, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, confirmed Tuesday.
The Central Asian country has previously acquired Baykar-made Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı UCAVs, as well as Aksungur UCAV produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
This makes Kyrgyzstan first country outside of Turkey to use four different combat drones manufactured by the Turkish defense industry.
Akıncı’s procurement was made public in a statement made in October last year by the Chairperson of the Kyrgyzstan National Security Committee Kamchybek Tashiev. However, the information that Kyrgyzstan has procured Anka and Aksungur UCAVs was not confirmed until the recent statement by Orunbekov.
It is not yet disclosed how many drones have been supplied to Kyrgyzstan by Turkey.
