Oshkosh Defense will produce "Eitan" armored personnel carriers (APC) worth over 100 million dollars in a deal financed from American aid (U.S. military aid to Israel) funds.
The head of the procurement delegation of the Israel Ministry of Defense (MoD) in the USA, Brigadier General (ret.) Michel Ben Baruch, signed the agreement for the production of hundreds of vehicles for the IDF's new protected wheeled APC.
"The "Eitan" APC was developed by the RCM Directorate, from the Defense Ministry, and the APCs are expected to arrive in Israel, starting in about a year and a half, will enter directly into the production line at the Merkava factory in Tel Hashomer (MSHA)," the Israeli MoD said on its Telegram channel.
At the end of their assembly, the vehicles will be transferred to operational use in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) and will significantly expand the range of protected APCs. In the coming weeks, the Ministry of Defense will deliver the first operational heavy-duty APCs to the Nahal Brigade in the IDF, the statement added.
