Polish deputy Prime Minister Mariusz Blaszczak and Polish Armaments Group, PGZ today signed a contract to buy 1400 Borsuk amphibious infantry combat vehicles (AICV).
The value of the contract is estimated around $9 billion. However the contract value has not been announced at the time of writing.
PGZ tweeted about the contract signing and said, "we are ready for a new challenge. We are ready for serial production of the Borsuk NBPWP."
"So far, the Borsuk AICV has successfully passed all tests. I am convinced that the presence of the AICV will make it the envy of many of our allies." tweeted President of PGZ, Sebastian Chwałek.
According to PGZ information, the Borsuk IFV will be used for:
combating armoured and unarmoured targets as well as personnel and other enemy targets in all atmospheric conditions, during the day and at night.
defending soldiers and landing troops against fire from firearms and anti-armour grenade launchers, IED mine explosions, and fire laid down with other types of ammunition from armoured vehicles in co-operation with an active defence system.
