South Korea is reportedly inches away from clinching a contract for K2 Black Panther tanks from the United Arab Emirates.
This information was reported by Defense Arab on March 8.
Built by Hyundai Rotem Co., the tank features Israeli Trophy hard kill system.
At IDEX-2023 international exhibition that concluded recently in Abu Dhabi, Hyundai Rotem displayed a scale model of an improved K2 tank, specially designed for the Middle East market, called K2ME (K-2ME).
The deal will reportedly include delivery of K2MEs, and technology transfer to the U.A.E.
The 27-liter V-type 12-cylinder engine produced by Hyundai Doosan Infracore Co., with 1,500 horsepower, enables a 56-ton tank to travel at a maximum speed of 70 km per hour. The K2 is fitted with new passive and active shields, and has an improved engine cooling system.
