Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has published photographs of the first FA-50/PL light attack aircraft being built for the Polish Air Force.
A contract for 48 FA-50s, said to be worth around $3 billion, was signed in September 2022. Aside of jets, South Korea has agreed to transfer FA-50 operational know-how to the Polish Air Force, and will conduct education and training programs.
Some local publications reported last month that four Polish pilots had commenced FA-50 training in South Korea’s Gwangju. A further four will pass through the 23-week training pipeline before the end of 2023.
The first 12 FA-50PL aircraft will be delivered to Poland in mid-2023.
In consultation with Poland, KAI plans to promote the establishment of an MRO center and an international flight training school capable of comprehensive maintenance of the FA-50 in the mid- to long-term.
