Malaysia to Discuss Littoral Mission Ship Batch 2 Procurement with Turkey Soon

Malaysian defense minister Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Hasan will be heading to Turkey to negotiate the procurement of the Littoral Mission Ship (LMS) Batch 2.

Turkish media reported that Hasan could likely pick Turkey’s Ada-class corvette. He revealed about his visit to the Parliament on March 8.

South Korea’s Hyundai (HDF-2600 design) and Dutch company Damen (SIGMA design) are also reportedly eyeing to sell their ships to Malaysia.

Malaysia will procure three corvettes in the first stage and eight corvettes in the next stage. The budget allocated for the first three corvettes is approximately $530 million, as per TurDef.

Ada-class corvette is a strong contender because Turkey is already building them for Pakistan and Ukraine.
