A Russian Su-27 Flanker has allegedly tried to knock down a Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 with a “jet wash effect,” by flying close to it at a very high speed.
The event was recorded by the Bayraktar TB2's tail camera, Savunma Sanayi ST reported. The Russian fighter is believed to have used jet wash on the Turkey-made drone to disrupt the thrust of the drone, but the drone continues flying. Jet wash is essentially the turbulence formed at the back of the aircraft as it passes through the air.
Like the incident involving the U.S. MQ-9 Reaper, this incident allegedly took place over the waters of the Black Sea near the Crimean coast.
The Su-27 did not fire any missiles at the drone, a stark departure from its usual practice of shooting down Ukrainian aircraft.
