A Russian surveillance ship, "Ivan Khurs" destroyed several Ukrainian unmanned boats that attacked it northeast of the Bosphorus Strait in Turkish waters this morning,
The ship was guarding the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines in Turkey's exclusive economic zone, a Russian defense official told the MoD's TV Channel, Tzvezda.
Confirming the incident, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the ship belonging to the Sevastopol-based Black Sea Fleet successfully repelled the attack from the suicide boats.
"All enemy boats were destroyed by fire from the standard armament of a Russian ship 140 kilometers northeast of the Bosphorus Strait," said the spokesman.
The incident occurred today at 5:30 a.m. Three sea drones attacked a ship that was carrying out tasks to ensure the security of the gas pipelines.
Konashenkov stressed that Russia has started protection of gas pipelines after the terrorist attacks on the Nord Streams pipeline.
