The Finnish Army will acquire 91 armoured personnel carriers from APC manufacturer Patria.
The Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen authorised the Finnish Defence Forces to proceed with the acquisition, a Finnish MoD release said today.
The acquisition includes an additional purchase provision, the redemption of which allows the acquisition of a maximum of 70 additional vehicles.
The serial procurement will be carried out as part of the international CAVS (CAVS) (Common Armoured Vehicle System) project led by Finland, which also includes Latvia, Sweden and Germany.
In the project, the countries will work with Patria to develop a wheeled armoured vehicle system that meets common requirements for Patria's 6x6 armoured vehicle platform, including several vehicle versions, including the personnel carrier now to be procured.
The total value of the acquisition, including the provision for additional purchases, is almost EUR 208 million. Deliveries of the vehicles will begin during 2023.
