India’s defense minister Rajnath Singh held a bilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in New Delhi today, which was focused on identifying ways to strengthen industrial cooperation.

As part of the cooperation, India is reportedly seeking to manufacture the GE F414 engine locally. This engine will power the LCA MK2 and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).

An official Indian statement said “both sides will identify opportunities for co-development of new technologies and co-production of existing & new systems and facilitate increased collaboration between defense start-up ecosystems of the two countries.”

Towards these objectives, they concluded a roadmap for U.S.-India Defense Industrial Cooperation which shall guide the policy direction for the next few years.
