The UK Ministry of Defence has tapped BAE Systems for the supply of munitions worth £280 million ($363 million).
The order has an option to increase to more than £400 million ($518 million).
Announcing the contract, BAE Systems said, “Current conflicts and tensions across the globe have highlighted the importance of sovereign manufacturing capabilities.”
The new orders will increase the production of vital defence stocks such as 155mm artillery shells, 30mm medium calibre rounds and 5.56mm ammunition.
