Belarus Prime Minister Visits Russia’s UVZ Concern

Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko visited facilities of Rostec-owned Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) July 11 along with other top officials, making it first such visit by a Belarusian government delegation.

Golovchenko was accompanied by UGV Concern’s general director Alexander Potapov.

The Belarusian delegation that visited Nizhny Tagil enterprise ncluded Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation Dmitry Krutoy, Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Pantus and other leaders. The officials visited the workshops of mechanical assembly production, including the tank conveyor, where they saw how modern special equipment brand "UVZ".

They were told about the history of the development of engineering at the enterprise and the creation of legendary tanks at the Uralvagonzavod Museum of Armored Vehicles. As part of the museum's exposition, among other exhibits, a multi-channel gunner's sight "Sosna-U" developed by one of the Belarusian enterprises, which is installed on Tagil tanks.

Being a close ally of Russia, Belarus has supported the latter’s invasion of Ukraine. Before the start of the offensive, it allowed the Russian troops to perform weeks-long military drills on its territory.

Russia has staged part of the invasion from Belarus’ territory, giving Russia the shortest possible land route to Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. Belarus also allowed Russia full access to its military airbases.
