Saab Bids to Supply 4 Submarines to the Netherlands

Saab has submitted four C718 Expeditionary submarines as its bid for the replacement of Netherland’s current submarines.

The C718s are modular which allows for incorporation of new technologies in the future. Saab will be cooperating with Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group to construct these submarines. As part of the proposal, Saab also offers an integrated weapon launching system .

The proposals includes knowledge transfer to the Netherlands. The Royal Netherlands Navy will be in charge of maintaining and upgrading the submarines through their lifespan.
