Russia is developing a supersonic aircraft without using any glass, a top official said during ARMY-2023 Forum.
Special display panels will be used to show the pilot what is happening overboard.
“Today, the Russian Federation is developing a supersonic aircraft, where one of the technical specifications is to work without glass. For pilots to look through the cockpit using technical vision, but through a physically closed volume without windows, without glass. This will allow the aircraft to fly quickly and reliably,” Artem Khoroshinsky, director of development at Navigator JSC, said on state-owned Zvezda.
In order to reduce the radar cross-section (RCS) of the aircraft, the F-22 canopies are coated with a thin layer of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), which gives it a golden tint.
