Russian troops in the North Military District (NMZ) zone have received improved anti-drone guns capable of detecting rogue drones at a distance of up to 1km.
These anti-drone guns have a built-in suppressor LPD-820. The problem with any anti-drone gun is that it works on the drone when troops see it, which is about 200-300 meters. The drone would have already adjusted fire on troops or is about to drop ammunition when it is so close to them.
Denis Oslomenko, General Director of the Laboratory for Combating Industrial Espionage that designed the drone told Russian state media that the new system suppresses the drone after detection when it is still out of sight of Russian fighters.
Denis Oslomenko added that thanks to this system, “we cover the approach of a drone for a kilometer.”
New guns are in great short supply in the area of the special operation (in Ukraine), reports said.
He explained that the antenna of the direction finder and the suppressor had the same angles of action. This allows you to suppress the drone exactly at the point where it was spotted. Speaking about the principle of operation, Oslomenko said that the detector's antenna is detachable and can be used by a second operator.
The LPD-820 system operates in the ranges from 2.4 GHz to 5.8 GHz and has the ability to suppress drones at frequencies of 1.6 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz.
