Norway has declared its intention to furnish missiles for Ukraine's Sweden-supplied IRIS-T air defense system.
Ukraine has been running through stockpiles of missiles, shells and other ammunition at a rate that is putting immense pressure on its weapons donors.
Although the Norwegian defence ministry did not explicitly mention the IRIS-T in its official statement, it stated that the "supplied missiles can be deployed from launchers to be donated by Sweden."
Sweden’s package for Ukraine, announced in February, covered the provision of subsystems for the HAWK anti-aircraft system and essential parts of the IRIS-T anti-aircraft system, in cooperation with Germany.
Norway has previously transferred the NASAMS air defence system and Mistral air defence missiles to Ukraine.
