Saab Unveils Barracuda Camouflage Screen for Dual Enemy Protection, Friendly Communication

Saab has announced a new feature for its Barracuda Ultra-lightweight Camouflage Screen (ULCAS), providing armed forces with the ability to combine protection from the enemy with the capability to communicate with friendly forces.

Barracuda camouflage nets offer crucial protection for soldiers, concealing operators from radar sensors, for example. However, the same characteristics that provide this protection also restrict the use of GPS and/or VHF communications from underneath the net.

Saab's Frequency Selective Surface technology (ULCAS-FSS) enables selected radio frequencies to easily pass through the camouflage net in both directions while safeguarding against the higher frequencies of electromagnetic waves used by radar systems.

Saab's camouflage solutions, including the ULCAS with FSS feature, will be showcased during the DSEI 2023 event in London from September 12 to 15 at stand H7-210.
