South African defense firm Paramount Group announced that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has made a purchase of "several" Mwari aircraft.
This procurement decision comes after Paramount Group supplied equipment to Mozambique, where the Mwari aircraft is already in operational use.
Mwari aircraft is designed for various missions, including counterinsurgency, border patrol, precision strike, reconnaissance, and surveillance.
Details regarding the quantity of Mwari aircraft ordered by the DRC and the contract's value were not disclosed by the company.
The Mwari aircraft, lauded for its minimal logistical requirements, can operate effectively in remote and challenging environments while accommodating various payloads.
During the DSEI event, Paramount Group also announced the integration of "advanced weapons systems" onto the Mwari aircraft, with specific details to be disclosed at a later date.
Weapons testing and certification are anticipated later in the current year or early in 2024, as mentioned in the news release.
