Saab has been awarded two production and delivery contracts with an order value of MUSD 18.4 (appr. MSEK 130) for Ultra Lightweight Camouflage Net Systems by the U.S. Department of Defense. In August Saab won two Department of Defense contracts to produce and deliver Ultra Lightweight Camouflage Net Systems (ULCANS) for use by the U.S. Army. Delivery of the systems will begin in December 2009 and continue through the summer of 2010. “We are pleased to see the U.S. Department of Defense continued trust in our ability to deliver. We are committed to continue providing the best signature management products available to the U.S. Armed Forces now and in the future,” says Dottie Womack, President of Saab Barracuda LLC. ULCANS are used for hiding military objects to achieve protection against visual as well as near infrared, thermal infrared and broadband radar threats, while in a static position. Saab manufactures multi-spectral signature management and heat reduction products for the Department of Defense as well as other U.S. Government agencies and customers worldwide. Signature management is mainly a military term for providing an object or a person with characteristics that makes detection and identification more difficult for different types of sensors.
