Rostec, a state-owned entity in Russia, has announced that the Kalashnikov Concern has dispatched equipment and components necessary for the production of more than 600,000 AK-203 assault rifles to India.
The manufacturing of these rifles is set to occur at the Korwa Ordnance Factory, in accordance with a contract that was inked in 2021 during a meeting between the defense ministers of Russia and India held in Delhi. The Kalashnikov Concern has shipped a total of 4,500 units of equipment and the necessary tools for authorized production of these firearms.
Over a span of a year and a half, Kalashnikov's specialized divisions in machine manufacturing, tool production, and weapons development have generated a diverse array of over 1,100 tool types. These tools encompass items like gauges, dies, fixtures, and cutting implements. Importantly, all of these products have successfully undergone evaluation and received approval from the export commission.
Alan Lushnikov, President of Kalashnikov Concern JSC, noted, "Since the agreement was formally established in December 2021, we have executed an extensive amount of work across all sectors of our organization. This has encompassed the creation of new technological documentation, the acquisition of equipment, and the recruitment of additional personnel. Presently, the products have been transported to the warehouse in preparation for their shipment to India."
