Rostec has initiated the transfer of a batch of 120-mm Phlox self-propelled artillery guns to the troops.
The gun is built on the chassis of a protected off-road vehicle, enabling it to quickly change its firing position after several shots. The armored cabin and ammunition compartments provide enhanced protection for the crew and ammunition during marches and when changing positions. The rate of fire allows the Phlox to engage in simultaneous fire attack mode, where several shells are fired sequentially at different gun elevation angles, simultaneously reaching the target. Transitioning the gun from the traveling position to the combat position takes less than a minute, and it reduces the load on the chassis during firing.
"Phlox serves as both a cannon and a mortar, capable of firing both shells and mines without slowing down. Phlox offers improved mobility and security, efficiently balancing manual and automated operations, and making the crew's work as easy as possible. Coupled with its relatively low price, all these features render the weapon accessible and in high demand among the troops," stated Bekhan Ozdoev, the Industrial Director of the Complex of Conventional Weapons, Ammunition, and Special Chemicals at the Rostec State Corporation.
"Phlox" is designed to equip artillery batteries with the goal of destroying enemy personnel, weapons, and equipment within the battalion's area of responsibility. The gun is unified in terms of the ammunition used with guns of the "Vienna" type, allowing for the use of high-power ammunition and an increase in firing range.
