Thales has clinched a contract with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to outfit Poland's FA-50 fighter aircraft with Scorpion Helmet Mounted Display (HMD).
Under the terms of the agreement, Thales will take on the responsibility of adapting, integrating, and certifying the Scorpion HMD for use on KAI's FA-50 Fighting Eagle. The company will also oversee the installation of production systems to support Poland's FA-50 contract with the Republic of Korea.
The FA-50 boasts a digital cockpit, digital flight control system, and an arsenal of precision-guided weaponry.
The Scorpion HMD offers full-color symbology, zero-latency perception, and a single display module suitable for both day and night operations, all at a reduced life-cycle cost. The precision Hybrid Optically-based Inertial Tracker (HObIT) in the Scorpion system improves motion-tracking accuracy compared to competing HMDs.
Scorpion can be adapted onto other aircraft, including the T-50 Advanced Jet Trainer and TA-50 Lead-in Fighter Trainer.
