Japanese Self-Defense Forces (JGSDF) have placed an order with Saab for the acquisition of more than 300 Carl-Gustaf man-portable, multi-role weapon systems.

The scheduled deliveries of the Carl-Gustaf weapon systems are set to commence in 2025.

The Carl-Gustaf, renowned for its tactical flexibility and extensive variety of ammunition options, is an exceptionally lightweight, portable multi-role weapon system. It has gained recognition as the primary shoulder-launched weapon system in numerous nations. Notably, it has been in service with the Japan Self-Defense Forces since 1979.
