Damen Naval has signed a contract with Alewijnse, a Dutch electrical systems integration firm, for the systems integration of Anti-Submarine Warfare frigates (ASWF).

The contract covers design, engineering, installation, and integration of all electrical systems, including power distribution and lighting installations for four new ASWFs to be constructed for the Netherlands and Belgium.

The two companies have collaborated in multiple projects including the Joint Support Ship HNLMS Karel Doorman and Landing Platform Dock HNLMS Rotterdam. The ASWF frigates, which will replace the Karel Doorman-Class, will focus on anti-submarine warfare capabilities and operate with hybrid diesel-electric propulsion while incorporating advanced sensor systems for submarine detection.

The ASWF project will also involve the Dutch Ministry of Defence, with some work to be conducted by the Ministry. The hulls will be manufactured in Romania and then transported to Vlissingen for final completion. The first ship is expected to be delivered by Damen Naval in 2028.
