The Dutch military procurement organization, Command Materiel and IT (COMMIT), has signed an agreement for the acquisition of seven additional Thales Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission radars (GM200 MM/C), with an option for two additional Compact systems.
The contract follows the order of nine GM 200 MM/C radars in 2019.
Troops today face a multitude of threats on the battlefield, including advancements in indirect fire capabilities (observation, range, speed, accuracy), which pose challenges to radar detection and may make the radar itself a target. To protect high-value assets and troops, Thales offers time-on-target solutions from the Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission family – radars capable of detecting smaller, faster, and more agile targets at longer ranges, while maintaining high tactical mobility and rapid deployment.
The GM200 MM/C provides radar operators with increased time-on-target to gather as much information on incoming threats as possible. Featuring new-generation 4D Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology and unique 'dual-axis multi-beam' technology, offering flexibility in elevation and bearing, it enhances theater protection.
This radar automatically detects, tracks, and classifies multiple UAVs, RAM (Rockets, Artillery, and Mortars), missiles, aircraft, helicopters, and is particularly suited for weapon locating, air surveillance, and air defense. Additionally, the compact design of the GM200 MM/C provides mobility, short deployment times, and ease of transportation on any platform.
For the Dutch Forces, the radar system is mounted on a Scania Gryphus truck, ensuring rapid setup and teardown times, making the radar highly tactical and mobile. Upon reaching its destination, the GM200 MM/C can be operational within a minute and can relocate quickly.
Thales launched the first of the series GM200 MM/C last month to the Dutch Ministry of Defence. It boasts a range of up to 400 kilometers.
The GM200 Multi Mission radar system offers two mobile versions tailored for specific operational needs. The GM200 MM/C (Compact Version) is designed for rapid deployment and tactical mobility, ideal for missions like Artillery Counter Battery and Weapon Locating, as well as VSHORAD and SHORAD operations. On the other hand, the GM200 MM/A (All-in-One Version) focuses on Air Surveillance and Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD) up to low-level MRAD. It features integrated command and control capabilities and accommodates two operators, supporting efficient planning, training, and operations across various mission scenarios. Both versions prioritize transportability and network-centric operations to enhance military readiness and effectiveness.
