Denmark announces a new donation package of 5.6 billion kroner ($524.2 million) to Ukraine, with $348.3 million allocated for air defense.
The donation package also covers additional contributions for F-16s, artillery maintenance, and provision of artillery pieces, shells, and anti-tank mines.
"We've informed the Foreign Policy Council about our 18th consecutive donation package for Ukraine, focusing on air defense and artillery. Additional funds will be reserved for direct investments in the Ukrainian defense industry and the upcoming F-16 donation planned for this summer.", says Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Approximately $225.12 million is allocated to strengthen Ukrainian air defense, with additional funds designated for acquiring artillery pieces, grenades, and anti-tank mines. Part of the funding is allocated to maintain donated equipment for sustained effectiveness on the battlefield.
"As part of the package, the government is also setting aside additional funds to be invested directly in the Ukrainian defense industry. It makes sense to produce the weapons where they are used and by those who use them. It is also about future-proofing Ukraine's defense capability. Ukraine has the skills, but lacks the funding. Hopefully more countries can be inspired to follow this model", says Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
The government also allocates funds for NATO CAP projects and plans for long-term investment in the Ukrainian defense industry.
"We are sending an unequivocal signal to both Ukraine and the outside world. We are delivering both donations now and we are ready to invest massively and long-term in the Ukrainian defense industry. Their fight for freedom is still our fight", says Troels Lund Poulsen.
