MBDA has signed a contract with Romanian aerospace manufacturer IAR Brasov to integrate the Marte ER missile onto a maritime helicopter platform for the Romanian Naval Forces, based on the Airbus H215M platform.

The contract was finalized at the Black Sea Defense & Aerospace (BSDA) exhibition, held in Romania from May 22 to 24.

This integration aims to enhance the anti-surface warfare capabilities of the Romanian Navy. MBDA will work in partnership with IAR Brasov, Airbus, and other collaborators to achieve the integration of the Marte ER and ensure full integration at the mission system level.

The Marte ER is part of the multiplatform Marte missile family, which is already in use by the Italian Armed Forces and several export customers. It operates in all weather conditions, has a range of over 100 km, and features flexible mission profiles, including automatic and manual waypoints, salvo firing, and methods to counter ships' defensive measures. Additionally, the Marte ER allows for attacks on land coordinates, providing a highly flexible mission profile.
