Rheinmetall Electronics and MBDA Deutschland signed Letter of Intent (LOI) at ILA 2024 to integrate MBDA's Small Anti-Drone Missile (SADM) into Rheinmetall's Skyranger 30 system and other military vehicles.

The SADM is used to defeat small and medium-sized drones over long distances. The 30mm cannon on the Skyranger 30, meanwhile, provides mobile defense against airborne threats with its combination of firepower, intelligent sensors, and mobility, making the two weapons complementary, the companies said in a joint statement.

The LOI sets the groundwork for a long-term collaboration focusing on the integration of the SADM into the Skyranger 30 and other military platforms. This includes the development, production, and incorporation of a missile launcher into various turret systems and Rheinmetall’s digital system architecture.

At the ILA, the SADM is showcased on the turret of the Skyranger 30 system at MBDA's stand.
