Raytheon (RTX) won a $677 million contract to produce AN/SPY-6(V) radars for the U.S. Navy, the third option from a March 2022 contract worth up to $3 billion over five years.

This contract will bring seven more radars to the U.S. Navy's procurement, totaling 38.

"SPY-6 offers the fleet advanced air surveillance, electronic warfare defense, and heightened detection capabilities." said Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon, "This contract marks a crucial advancement in delivering this technology to enhance the fleet's overall self-defense."

The U.S. Navy is integrating SPY-6 into its surface fleet, starting with USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125) commissioned in October 2023. USS Richard M. McCool Jr. (LPD 29) is the second ship and first to deploy the (V)2 variant. LPD 29 was delivered on April 11 after successful trials in the Gulf of Mexico. SPY-6(V)2 radar offers defense against missiles and air traffic control capability.
