Patria and Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) outlining the framework for the production and sustainment of Pratt & Whitney F135 engines in Finland.

The MoA sets the stage for Patria to handle the assembly of F135 engines and components from 2025 to 2030. Following this period, Patria will transition to providing Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul, and Upgrade (MRO&U) operations for these engines starting in 2030. The necessary assembly and maintenance infrastructure will be established in Linnavuori, Nokia, reinforcing the region's strategic importance in Finland’s defense sector.

In late May, Patria signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin to set up a landing gear doors production line at Patria’s Halli facility in Jämsä, Finland, to supply the F-35 global fleet. This long-term agreement entails the manufacturing of 400 sets of F-35 landing gear doors.

A $9.6 billion jet procurement contract between Finland's Ministry of Defense (MOD) and Lockheed Martin was signed in February 2022, outlining the delivery of 64 F-35s to the Finnish Air Force.
