Rheinmetall has introduced the Lynx KF41 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) equipped with Leonardo’s HITFACT MkII turret for the first time at the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition.
The turret features a digital optronic sensor suite and electric turret drives, enhancing safety and performance. It accommodates a 105/52 mm rifled or a 120/45 mm smoothbore gun, enabling the use of NATO-standard ammunition. Optional features include an automatic loader for 120 mm rounds and secondary armament options such as a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun or a 12.7 mm machine gun.
The Lynx KF41 boasts a modular multi-layered protection system, offering defense against threats including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), mines, direct and indirect fire, cluster munitions, and anti-tank guided weapons.
Rheinmetall also presented the first production vehicle of the Hungarian infantry fighting vehicle and a Lynx Skyranger 30 air defense vehicle at Eurosatory 2024. The Lynx KF41 concept features a common drive module and flexible mission modules, allowing for configurations as an infantry fighting vehicle, air defense system, command vehicle, or medical vehicle.
Hungary is the first NATO country to introduce the Lynx KF41 into service, with deliveries starting in 2022. Rheinmetall has established a Joint Defense Center of Excellence in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, to support the production and development of combat vehicles.
