Attack on Ilsky Oil Refinery in May 2023

In the early hours of Friday morning, the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Territory was struck by a drone, resulting in injuries to two individuals, according to a report from the regional operational headquarters.

The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. when the Seversky District EDDS service received information regarding an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crash on the refinery's premises. The drone strike caused a fire that spread across an area of 50 square meters, which has since been extinguished. Preliminary reports indicate that, in addition to the injuries, utility structures at the refinery sustained damage.

This attack on the Ilsky Oil Refinery was part of a larger, extensive overnight offensive by Ukrainian forces. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defense systems managed to intercept and destroy a total of 114 aircraft-type UAVs across three Russian regions, alongside six naval drones in the Black Sea.

Specifically, the Ministry detailed that 70 UAVs were shot down over the Republic of Crimea and the Black Sea, 43 UAVs over the Krasnodar Territory, and one UAV over the Volgograd Region. Additionally, in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, the naval aviation of the Russian Black Sea Fleet destroyed six unmanned boats belonging to the Ukrainian Navy.
