BAE Systems has awarded a contract worth up to €42 million (1 billion Czech Koruna) to Tatra Defense Vehicle, a Czech company, for the welding, paint, and installation of hull insulation for BvS10 vehicles.
This contract is part of the new three-nation Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV-3N) program. It builds on the existing relationship between the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) of companies and CV90 and BvS10 manufacturer BAE Systems Hägglunds. It also strengthens ties between the Swedish and Czech defense industries.
Under the contract, Tatra Defense Vehicle will handle 250 new BvS10 all-terrain vehicles, with an option for an additional 274 units. The contract includes both front and rear carriages, which will vary from armored transporters to ambulances based on their mission configuration. Prototype production is set to begin this summer, with serial production planned to start by the end of 2025.
The BvS10 vehicles in the CATV-3N program are highly mobile, all-terrain armored vehicles designed for extreme climatic conditions and challenging terrains. They are intended for the military forces of Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
This contract highlights the cooperative relationship between BAE Systems Hägglunds and Czech defense companies. It follows the ongoing involvement of Czech industry in the CV90 MkIV vehicle supply contract for the Czech army, with BAE Systems anticipating additional business opportunities emerging from this partnership.
