India’s MEHAIR signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to purchase fifty ME-1A amphibious aircraft from American firm Mallard Enterprises at the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow (FIA)-2024 in the United Kingdom.
As pioneers of seaplane services in India since 2011, MEHAIR remains the only operator in the subcontinent and is transitioning to green aviation technologies.
The ME-1A aircraft can operate from both land and water, providing access to new destinations. This initiative aligns with the Government of India's UDAN scheme to enhance connectivity. This collaboration aims to expand regional routes and introduce new destinations across India.
The ME-1A is designed for low emissions and noise, offering seating for up to 19 passengers with a range of over 350 nautical miles.
