Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) introduced the WIND DEMON, a new air-to-surface cruise missile, at the Farnborough International Airshow in the U.K.

The WIND DEMON is characterized by its modular design, enabling affordability and adaptability across various combat scenarios. It was developed to address the need for effective, affordable ammunition capable of engaging diverse targets over long distances, the company said in an official statement.

With a range exceeding 200 kilometers, the missile can be launched from aircraft such as helicopters or patrol planes. It follows a mission plan to engage both stationary and moving targets. Its self-guided nature, along with "man in the loop" capabilities, allows for flexible targeting and disengagement strategies.

Equipped with advanced electro-optic and laser homing seekers, the WIND DEMON provides precise targeting capabilities day and night. The warhead, weighing over 20 kilograms, can be configured for different effects, including blast, fragmentation, and penetration.

The missile's low flight profile aids in evading detection and disruption, supported by an advanced navigation suite. Connectivity features enable real-time video transmission and person-in-the-loop control, allowing for precise mission execution. Its speed profile can be adjusted for rapid or stealthy approaches.
