Rolls-Royce wins engine order from Cathay Pacific for 60 Trent 7000 engines

Rolls-Royce has secured a contract with Cathay Pacific for 60 Trent 7000 engines to power 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft.

The deal also includes a TotalCare long-term service agreement, ensuring comprehensive support for the engines.

Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer at Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, commented, “The Trent 7000, paired with TotalCare, offers great value for airlines. The £1 billion investment in the Trent family underscores our commitment, and we are proud of the trust Cathay Pacific has placed in us. We look forward to supporting their new A330neo aircraft.”

Alex McGowan, Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer at Cathay Pacific, added, “We are delighted with this order for 30 Trent 7000-powered A330-900s. This aircraft will naturally replace our A330ceo fleet, offering excellent passenger comfort and improved fuel efficiency, which aligns with our sustainability goals.”

Since its introduction in 2018, the Trent 7000 has accumulated over two million flight hours, offering a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat and reduced emissions compared to its predecessor.Rolls-Royce's £1 billion investment in the Trent engine family includes a Durability Enhancement package that more than doubles engine time on wing and a hot-section upgrade that promises up to 30% improved performance.

The Trent 7000 is certified for 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and is set to be compatible with 100% SAF in the future, supporting the aviation industry's sustainability efforts.
