Russia’s Rostec State Corporation presented a new anti-aircraft missile system, Pantsir-SMD-E, at the Army-2024 arms fair near Moscow.
It is designed to protect industrial and administrative facilities from massive drone attacks.
"Pantsir-SMD-E" is equipped with a fire control system, which includes a surveillance radar, a multifunctional radar system and an electro-optical system. The system is capable of detecting and engaging air targets at medium and short ranges, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of firing in automatic mode.
The ammunition load in the launcher's guides can reach 48 short-range anti-aircraft guided missiles or 12 standard anti-aircraft guided missiles. The number of missiles in the launcher can vary depending on the combination of standard and mini-missiles.
The new Pantsir-SMD-E is designed to protect stationary objects from air attack weapons, including massive drone attacks. To combat these targets, the system can carry 48 short-range missiles. These are effective and inexpensive munitions that reliably protect against small drones, and, figuratively speaking, allow you not to shoot sparrows with a cannon," said Bekkhan Ozdoyev, industrial director of the arms cluster of Rostec.
