Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gürak inspected a Eurofighter Typhoon while on a visit to the Royal Air Force's Coningsby Air Base recently.

The visit is indicative of the Turkish Air Force's desire to acquire the Typhoon aircraft despite being cold-shouldered by Germany, a prominent partner of the Eurofighter consortium along with the U.K. and Spain.

While the UK, Spain, and Italy have approved the sale of Eurofighter jets to Turkey, Germany has blocked it. Despite this, German workers at Airbus are advocating for the sale due to a lack of recent Typhoon orders.

Turkey has recently been approved to buy F-16 block 70 jets from the U.S. besides modernization kits for its existing older generation F-16s. However it still desires to acquire heavy fighters to carry higher payloads.
