The Estonian Ministry of Defence has signed a joint statement with Helsing to develop and apply artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF).
The partnership aims to pioneer new defence technologies, including software-defined reconnaissance and strike capabilities.
Helsing will invest €70 million in Estonia, establishing new operational facilities and collaborating with local industrial partners to provide AI-driven defence capabilities. The joint initiative will explore advanced AI applications for the EDF, drawing on lessons from global conflicts, and seek cooperation opportunities in testing new technologies.
The partnership demonstrates Estonia's commitment to national security and its attractiveness to top European defence companies. Both parties emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between government and industry in developing modern defence capabilities.
"This partnership will strengthen the EDF and the entire NATO alliance," said Hanno Pevkur, Estonian Minister of Defence.
