The Pentagon today announced a contract valued $1.54 billion for Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTVs).

Work is estimated to be completed before September 2029. 

Oshkosh's Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) is a series of military trucks designed for heavy-duty, transportation and logistics support for military operations in various environments.

The FHTV family includes several vehicles, each with unique specifications. The M1074 Palletized Load System (PLS) Truck, for instance, has a payload capacity of 16.5 tons and is powered by a Caterpillar C-12 diesel engine, with a 7-speed automatic transmission and a top speed of 55 mph.

The M1075 PLS Trailer has a similar payload capacity of 16.5 tons and measures 30 ft in length, 8 ft in width, and 9 ft in height. The M1076 PLS Truck Tractor shares the same engine and transmission as the M1074, with a top speed of 55 mph.

The M1081 Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) Truck has a payload capacity of 5 tons, powered by a Caterpillar C-7 diesel engine, with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a top speed of 55 mph.

The M1082 MTV Trailer has a payload capacity of 5 tons, measuring 24 ft in length, 8 ft in width, and 9 ft in height. The M1083 MTV Truck Tractor shares the same engine and transmission as the M1081, with a top speed of 55 mph. Common features across the FHTV family include high-mobility, all-wheel-drive capability, central tire inflation system, armored cab and cargo bed options, advanced suspension systems, and integrated winch and recovery systems.
