General Atomics will equip the U.S. Army's Grey Eagle extended range dornes with the all-new "Eagle Eye" radar  that delivers photographic-quality imagery that can be captured through clouds, rain, dust, smoke, and fog at multiple times the range of previous radars.

The radar features Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for high-resolution imagery in challenging weather conditions and introduces radar-based Full-Motion Video (FMV) capability called “Video SAR” for the first time on the Gray Eagle platform, GA-ASI says. Additionally, the system integrates real-time Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) software with the goal of improving target detection range.

Designed as a “drop-in” upgrade for the U.S. Army’s Gray Eagle Extended Range UAS, EagleEye will also be part of the new Gray Eagle 25M (GE 25M) UAS, with 12 units ordered by the Army National Guard.

Jeff Hettick, GA-ASI vice president of Agile Mission Systems Said. “The EagleEye radar has improved range and multi-mode performance, which is tailored to the deep sensing capability required for Multi-Domain Operations (MDO),We look forward to delivering the EagleEye to our U.S. Army customer in the near future.”

The EagleEye radar offers Moving Target Indication (MTI), change detection, stripmap generation, and detailed insights using industry-standard data formats. Its Maritime Wide Area Search (MWAS) mode includes a dedicated maritime MTI function for vessel tracking.
