A day after pagers and mobile radios exploded across Lebanon, several hundred laptops and mobile phones exploded across the country today.

Local media said these devices did not contain an explosive like PETN but were updated with a program that supplies excess current to the batteries causing them to overheat and explode.

Hundreds of people have been injured in Beirut, Bekaa, Nabatieh and southern Lebanon in the last couple of hours on September 19.

According to eyewitnesses, mobile phone stores and home appliances have also exploded.

"In addition to the mined communication devices that passed through Mossad-approved suppliers more than 5 months earlier, Israeli programmers wrote a software add-on for dozens of other devices with Wi-Fi / LTE modules that supplies excess current and voltage to batteries during charging. Updates such as 'Power Delivery 2.0/3.0 or QC 3.0' provokes the activation of accelerated chemical processes in batteries with their eventual overheating and ignition even without visible detonation," a local arabic media worte.

CCTV images from several mobile phone shops showed the devices exploding in front of customers and shop owners.

Unlike the blasts of pagers where the blast intensity was high causing grievous injuries to some, the mobile phone and laptop blasts appear more like their batteries exploded mostly causing minor injuries to their users.
