Azerbaijan officially integrated the JF-17C (Block-III) multirole fighter jets into its Air Force today at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The event was attended by President Ilham Aliyev, who serves as the country's Supreme Commander-in-Chief, according to a report from Azernews.

Azerbaijan is the first foreign customer of the JF-17 Block III, the most advanced version of the JF-17 equipped with an AESA radar and advanced missiles from China.

During the presentation, Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov reported on the new additions to the Air Force's arsenal to President Aliyev. Accompanying him was Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Chairman, Air Vice Marshal Hakim Raza, who provided details on the aircraft's tactical and technical capabilities.

The JF-17C (Block-III) is a lightweight, all-weather combat aircraft developed through a joint venture between Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra, and Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation of China. Designed for both day and night operations, the fighter is known for its versatility in air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The JF-17C features high maneuverability at medium and low altitudes.

The aircraft is equipped with the Chinese-made KLJ-7A active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar and the RD-93MA turbofan engine, which provides increased thrust and efficiency. It also has enhanced air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities, including the ability to carry advanced missiles such as the PL-15 and PL-12, and precision-guided munitions.

The JF-17 Block III has a digital fly-by-wire (FBW) system, advanced glass cockpit, and helmet-mounted display. Its electronic warfare capabilities have also been improved.

The JF-17 Block III has the following specifications: The aircraft measures 14.9 meters (48.9 ft) in length, 9.4 meters (30.8 ft) in wingspan, and 4.8 meters (15.7 ft) in height. Its empty weight is 6,400 kg (14,110 lb), with a maximum takeoff weight of 12,400 kg (27,400 lb). The JF-17 Block III has a range of 2,300 km (1,430 miles) and a service ceiling of 16,700 meters (54,800 ft). Its top speed reaches Mach 2.0, twice the speed of sound.
