The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran carried out a large-scale missile strike as part of Operation 'True Promise 2,' targeting what it described as “strategic centers” within Israeli-occupied territories.

According to IRGC statements, 90% of the missiles fired hit their intended targets, including several strategic Israeli air and radar bases.

The IRGC claimed responsibility for the missile strike, asserting that it targeted military facilities connected to operations against leaders of regional resistance movements, including Hamas' Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah's Seyed Hassan Nasrallah. The strike, involving 180 ballistic missiles, reportedly caused rocket sirens to sound across Israel, impacting various sites, including air bases and critical infrastructure.

Iran announced that its missile strike targeted a Mossad base, Novatim Air Base, Hatzerim Air Base, as well as radar installations and tank storage centers.

In response to the attack, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) vowed to carry out retaliatory strikes throughout the Middle East.

“Iran’s attack is a severe and dangerous escalation. There will be consequences…We will respond wherever, whenever and however we choose, in accordance with the directive of the government of Israel,” IDF Spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari said.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin condemned Iran's actions as an "outrageous act of aggression" in a post on social media. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also stated that the U.S. government was monitoring reports of civilian casualties, including the death of a Palestinian worker in Jericho.

As per reports, Jordan has allowed the U.S. to fly and shoot down Iranian missiles within the country's airspace.

The missile strike led to a series of incidents across Israeli cities. A residential building in Tel Aviv was hit by rocket fragments, injuring three individuals. In Gedera, a Chabad school suffered extensive damage after being struck, although no injuries were reported, with school officials describing the event as a fortunate escape for the students. Other locations, including Dimona, Beersheba, and Rishon Lezion, experienced missile impacts as well. Israeli air defense systems reportedly intercepted numerous missiles flying over Syria, with fragments seen falling into the Dead Sea.

Iran stated that the operation was in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah's Nasrallah and asserted its right to self-defense under international law. The IRGC warned Israel against further escalation, suggesting that any Israeli response would be met with a decisive and substantial Iranian counterattack. This operation marked a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries, following an earlier attack by Iran on Israel in April, in which missiles were reportedly intercepted by coordinated efforts from Israel, the United States, France, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.

Following the attack, significant disruptions occurred throughout Israel. Ben Gurion Airport temporarily halted all flights, and Jordan and Iraq closed their airspace. There were also reports of damage to electricity infrastructure in Beersheba, resulting in localized power outages. In response to the situation, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir mobilized 13,000 emergency standby units to be deployed throughout Israel.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin reported speaking with his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Gallant, to coordinate on the response to the missile attacks. Austin expressed condolences for those affected by the recent violence and reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel’s defense measures.
