Poland has secured a $3.08 billion loan from the United States government to finance the procurement of AH-64 Apache helicopters.
This marks the third loan granted by the U.S. to Poland, with a prior agreement signed on July 1 of this year. The total amount of U.S. direct loans to Poland now stands at $7 billion, making Poland the largest beneficiary of this financing mechanism in recent years.
The Foreign Military Financing (FMF) loans are available to close partners of the United States, with Poland benefiting due to its active role in regional defense and support of Ukraine. The recently signed contract for the AH-64 Apache helicopters, dated August 13, will be supported by these funds. This purchase aims to accelerate the modernization of the Polish Armed Forces and further strengthen defense cooperation between Poland and the United States.
In August 2024, Poland signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance with the U.S. government for 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache helicopters under the Polish KRUK Attack Helicopter program, in a deal valued more than $10 billion.
