BAE Systems has unveiled a new prototype of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV), equipped with a 30mm turret.
This model, alongside the AMPV Modular Turreted Mortar System (MTMS), recently completed evaluations at the Yuma Test Center.
The AMPV's design includes a common top plate, enabling integration of over 30 different turret systems. This configuration is the fifth in a series of prototypes introduced by BAE Systems within the last year and features the KONGSBERG Medium Caliber Turret (MCT). The MCT is a lightweight remote turret system selected by the U.S. Marine Corps for their Amphibious Combat Vehicle program.
Currently under evaluation is the AMPV MTMS, which integrates the AMPV and common top plate with the KONGSBERG/Patria NEMO remote-controlled 120mm turreted mortar system. BAE Systems delivered the AMPV MTMS prototype to the Army in January 2024 for field evaluations. It participated in a live-fire demonstration on September 10 at the Maneuver Warfighter Conference in Fort Moore, Georgia, prior to the AUSA event.
Over the past year, BAE Systems has also configured three other systems onto the AMPV, including a Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) turret and an unmanned 30mm turret. All systems utilize the same common top plate for adaptability.
Additionally, BAE Systems is nearing completion of its AMPV production line expansion in York, Pennsylvania.
