U.S. Army Awards $267M Contracts to Javelin Joint Venture for Lightweight Command Launch Units
The Javelin LWCLU is 30% smaller, 25% lighter, and doubles target detection.
The U.S. Army has awarded the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) two production contracts totaling $267 million for Lightweight Command Launch Units (LWCLU).
These contracts will support the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and Foreign Military Sales to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The Javelin LWCLU, developed by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, is 30% smaller and 25% lighter than its predecessor while doubling target detection and recognition. The unit enhances soldiers' day and night engagement capabilities and is compatible with all past, current, and future Javelin missile variants.
Production work will take place in Tucson, Arizona, with completion expected in 2026 and 2028.
